some spooky fun ~

normally i’m not one for halloween…. i know, it seems like it should be my favorite time of year, but honestly i don’t much care for it.

however – i just got my kitsune and nekomata back from the show they were at, and so i decided to have some fun (unfortunately the kitsune had to sit it out due to some minor breakage in shipping). normally, yokai are celebrated in mid to late summer (such as when the obon festivals are held), but i think they’re open to having a party pretty much any time of the year.

perhaps a bit of plotting?

some silly pictures

well, not exactly silly… i guess they’re kind of morbid in a way…

but playing around with pestilence and a head for a new doll i’m working on –

just a little update

October 15th, 2016 by _d2_

so i’ve been working on a few projects recently while fighting a cold and real life – hence the lack of pictures – but i’m also soon to start a part time job. in some ways it’s really great to have it, but it will also be cutting into the time i have to work on my drawings, dolls, and photography. so updates will probably be more like 2x a month rather than weekly (as per my original goal lately i’ve been slacking on that anyway… )

a lot depends on how many hours i end up putting into it, but i still hope to have time to work on various things.

in the meantime, enjoy a few pics i’ve taken over the last couple of weeks. first up are some more pics of the prince bust and memoria bust done for our memoria class through a for artistic. after that are a couple pics of pestilence playing around with a bit of feather boa that i have.

some new pictures ~

yeah, seems like i’ve gone from once a week to once or twice a month with these updates. in part due to real life drama sapping all my energy, and in part because i keep forgetting to update everything.

however, i recently finished another bust to put up on etsy soon. she’s another fish-inspired lady boringly named “fish 2″ – i’m terrible at coming up with names…

i also took some shots of plague – who’s had some cracking recently so i need to make repairs and restring her. i also have to make some new arms and hands for kame, so my main two girls will be out of commission for awhile….

it’s been awhile ~

i think i’ve used that title more times than i should have….

it’s not that i *haven’t* been working – but rather that i’ve been caught up in so many projects that i haven’t been sharing them as i should… i’ve posted pics up on my instagram account though – that seems to be the most reliably updated right now…

and of course i’m keeping up with the patreon page and our cirque de fantomes facebook has been featuring a lot of my mom’s sculpts lately (which is fine with me! means i get to have a mini social-media break ~_^ )

but i did recently take some new pics of pestilence with a piece of chinaware i got from my grandmother and while i’ve shared the pics in a few places, i’d still like to share them here.

i also finished up one the projects that was keeping me busy – a new bust inspired by our memoria class offered through a for artistic. now though we teach a finished doll (or bust in this case) in the class – both my mom and i like to encourage people to use the techniques we teach and the ideas we share to then come up with their own. so this time around, my mom and i each sculpted a new bust using the class as our basis, but then going off in our own new ideas to show how it can be adapted to other uses.

however, i’m not sure where i lost control on this bust – he is NOTHING like what i’ve done before and i’m still trying to figure him out….

first up – pestilence

and now my… um… gothic prince?

it’s been awhile…

since i shared any nature pics, and even longer since i took any of kirin really….

it’s not that i haven’t taken them (i’ve got to the japanese garden a few times and gotten some lovely shots) it’s just i haven’t processed them. though i haven’t been going out nearly as much as i would like… at the begging of the year we were managing to go at least 2~3 a month to different gardens (okay, really we go to the same 4 gardens but we rotate… ) and i had hoped to go to ecola beach, multnomah falls, and mt. hood this summer – i didn’t manage any of the three…

this year has been a lot of sickness and death – so i’m really excited for fall to start. why? because i love watching the leaves change colors and how everything looks so vibrant and alive. it’s like all the trees are giving one last hurrah before they go to sleep for the winter.

well, leaves aren’t changing fast enough for my tastes, but i was lucky enough to find a few faux bits to take these pictures (sorry the posing may seem a bit repetitive… )

having some fun ~

even though she still has a lot of work left to her (stupid tentacles) i decided to play a little with mononoke in a photoshoot.

she certainly has the creepy japanese yokai/yurei crawl thing down…

i've been drawing for as long as i could hold a pencil and art became my first language. though i've only been sculpting since 2007, i fell in love with the idea of being able to bring my drawings to life. i am heavily inspired by medieval macabre artwork, japanese yokai, and oddly enough, sherlock holmes. currently i'm living just south of beautiful portland oregon ^^
