it’s been awhile ~

i think i’ve used that title more times than i should have….

it’s not that i *haven’t* been working – but rather that i’ve been caught up in so many projects that i haven’t been sharing them as i should… i’ve posted pics up on my instagram account though – that seems to be the most reliably updated right now…

and of course i’m keeping up with the patreon page and our cirque de fantomes facebook has been featuring a lot of my mom’s sculpts lately (which is fine with me! means i get to have a mini social-media break ~_^ )

but i did recently take some new pics of pestilence with a piece of chinaware i got from my grandmother and while i’ve shared the pics in a few places, i’d still like to share them here.

i also finished up one the projects that was keeping me busy – a new bust inspired by our memoria class offered through a for artistic. now though we teach a finished doll (or bust in this case) in the class – both my mom and i like to encourage people to use the techniques we teach and the ideas we share to then come up with their own. so this time around, my mom and i each sculpted a new bust using the class as our basis, but then going off in our own new ideas to show how it can be adapted to other uses.

however, i’m not sure where i lost control on this bust – he is NOTHING like what i’ve done before and i’m still trying to figure him out….

first up – pestilence

and now my… um… gothic prince?

it’s been awhile…

since i shared any nature pics, and even longer since i took any of kirin really….

it’s not that i haven’t taken them (i’ve got to the japanese garden a few times and gotten some lovely shots) it’s just i haven’t processed them. though i haven’t been going out nearly as much as i would like… at the begging of the year we were managing to go at least 2~3 a month to different gardens (okay, really we go to the same 4 gardens but we rotate… ) and i had hoped to go to ecola beach, multnomah falls, and mt. hood this summer – i didn’t manage any of the three…

this year has been a lot of sickness and death – so i’m really excited for fall to start. why? because i love watching the leaves change colors and how everything looks so vibrant and alive. it’s like all the trees are giving one last hurrah before they go to sleep for the winter.

well, leaves aren’t changing fast enough for my tastes, but i was lucky enough to find a few faux bits to take these pictures (sorry the posing may seem a bit repetitive… )

i've been drawing for as long as i could hold a pencil and art became my first language. though i've only been sculpting since 2007, i fell in love with the idea of being able to bring my drawings to life. i am heavily inspired by medieval macabre artwork, japanese yokai, and oddly enough, sherlock holmes. currently i'm living just south of beautiful portland oregon ^^
