okay, next update post!

and this time, it’s my lovely new boy jean-pierre.

and because i know *NO ONE* really reads this blog, i won’t bother posting the answers to who is in this sculpt.

so he started out kinda rough…. well, REALLY rough…. back at the beginning of july (i did mention i’d been lazy posting pics, right? )

and then he grew… and got lopsided. of course.

but not to be deterred, i kept at it. i could see how gorgeous he would be! (okay, that and i was *REALLY* in love with two of the three actors being used and just sat there for hours watching the same 4 or 5 movies over and over again while my roommate was at work *cough* ) – but i did learn one very valuable lesson – blue oranges are bitter and inedible and if someone offers you one, give them a very strange look because it’s clear they’ve watched a certain movie too many times too. (i also learned some other very valuable lessons from the other movies, but those are for another time)

so anyway, after about 5 weeks i got the boy to this point -

impressive, right? well, i’ve been since fighting a lot to get his eyes just right… i keep thinking they’re good, but then stepping back and realizing they’re not.

but here is how he is now with his incomplete torso -

next to pierrot – they look great together, don’t they?

and for fun i swapped heads with pierrot – ugh, i will never do that again!

the first of many catch up posts….

isn’t that i haven’t worked the last two months…. in fact, i busted butt and got quite a bit done.

i just…. kinda put taking/posting pictures on the back burner as i dealt with other things.

so first up i thought i’d post some new pics of kirin. she has now become my new hollow. as she grew, i just felt like that’s what she was supposed to be so i took the plunge and cut out a heart from her chest and it clicked. that’s who she was meant to be. i seem to call her either kirin or hollow depending on my mood.

these pictures are from march *cough* – i had played around with giving her the little giraffe horns as she was meant to be my giraffe girl, but… i didn’t like them so off they came. she also was going to have a faceplate, but i didn’t like that either….

and here is a picture (again from march) of her next to pierrot – awwww, look at how white and pristine they both look…

and then i took this after i had cut the heart out of her chest (back around august 12) – just playing around with how lovely i think she’s looking -

and these i just took a couple of days ago – i had started to spray some primer on her to help me locate uneven areas… ugh, she was pretty bad! so now her face is all splotchy…. but at the same time, i’m very happy with how she’s coming along (though mostly i work on pierrot since i need to have her finished before next week)

oh – and did i mention i was taking next week off so i could mold my *finished* pierrot? yes, that’s right! she’s nearly done! i have some more pics of her, but i’ll post those tomorrow ^^ i’ve also been working on my lovely little boy jean-pierre! who’s that, you ask? why, he’s that lovely boy introduced with just a sketch! i’ve put quite a bit of work into him, spending lots of hours watching movies and wishing i spoke french…. i wasn’t sure about naming him that, but my roommate and mom both think it’s a very appropriate name for him (it’s actually first name of one of the actors who inspired him). right now he’s just a head and torso… and some stick legs. and i really do mean STICK legs ^^;;;;;

i've been drawing for as long as i could hold a pencil and art became my first language. though i've only been sculpting since 2007, i fell in love with the idea of being able to bring my drawings to life. i am heavily inspired by medieval macabre artwork, japanese yokai, and oddly enough, sherlock holmes. currently i'm living just south of beautiful portland oregon ^^
