a small break -

February 27th, 2008 by _d2_

i joined a challenge on denofangels to sculpt a rough head a day based on a theme for the day. so i’m taking a break from my own dolls to work on these challenge heads – which are helping me a lot! i’ve updated pierrot’s face, as well as creating another head which i’ve named beatrix and i’ll get pictures up in the next couple of days, along with imogen’s face which i’m slowly working on and maybe citadel’s (the 36cm boy i’m planning on)

first cast of the head and imogen’s body

yay! pierrot’s head was cast today and aside from some problems with the mold i already knew about (and the fact that the resin color is streaky) she is really lovely! she cleaned up really well! i’ll have to make a new mold after i drill the holes for the magnets. it’s so motivating to have her face in resin though!head casthead casthead casti’ve also worked on imogen – her body is coming along great and i’m working on her head – she’ll use the same size headback as pierrot so i just strung pierrot’s head on the body – it looks so funny! but hopefully imogen’s face will look alright. the legs need to be lengthened some, but otherwise i think it looks pretty good!imogen body1imogen body2more pictures can be seen on the thread i made on den of angels that i linked a bit back…

hehehe……it’s been awhile since an update….. i’ve started to do the molds of pierrot but rain has seriously delayed it… so far i’ve only gotten her face plate molded…i’ve also started on a new girl and she’s coming along quickly. her name is imogen and she’s about 28cm tall – she’s going to be a little raccoon girl because i have a slight obsession with raccoons *shifty eyes* ((though in the sketch she has a cat tail because she was originally going to be a cat chibi, but i decided i wanted a raccoon chibi more))imogen sketch

face up

February 10th, 2008 by _d2_

well, pierrot is going to be in an article in a doll magazine so she needed a face up and some professional-ish pictures. they came out pretty well, and she’s so cute if i do say so myself ^^i’ve also shortened her fore arms which has made her look more elegant, as well as fixinger her knee and ankle with help from my mother and the people on den of angels. ((tho these pictures are before i cut her arms))now i just need to spray the primer and sand and do that a few times to make the molds… however, i feel like i’m running behind slightly so it may not be until april that i’m ready to think of selling casts of her — but i’m still hoping for march, maybe end of march?well, here she is -pierrot faceup 1pierrot faceup 1pierrot faceup 1pierrot faceup 1

about

i've been drawing for as long as i could hold a pencil and art became my first language. though i've only been sculpting since 2007, i fell in love with the idea of being able to bring my drawings to life. i am heavily inspired by medieval macabre artwork, japanese yokai, and oddly enough, sherlock holmes. currently i'm living just south of beautiful portland oregon ^^
