well, enough babbling - i took some shots of her today to share with my mom and was very happy with how they came out i wanted to post them here. i’m going to work on her head and headback today because i’m feeling inspired despite the fear i’ve been feeling lately.

and for that i feel bad, especially as i want to start offering at least one of my girls for sale by the end of the year and it would be good to have a complete record of their creation with all the horrible copiers and scammers and bootleggers out there.

but i cut apart my beloved kirin to start working on her more (i kept breaking her while sanding so figured it would be easier to work with her in pieces…)

one leg is mostly done and smoothed out - the other one is… quite rough…

isn’t it a cute little face? and she doesn’t even have her horns or ears yet! the horns will definitely be attached to the head, but i’m thinking of doing the ears on hooks with elastic like soom’s euclase or dollzone’s jeremy and una. while it can make wigs more difficult, the system is so much more stable than magnets or pegs.

is it alright to swoon over my own doll?

i also worked on my original girl pierrot’s body. i even now have two hands i’m happy with! i cut apart a junk cast of her right hand to create the left one - it still needs a lot of work though! and the new legs are coming along great, if i do say so myself!

and smoothing out the joint of the torso - it will still be jointed, but i wanted to make a nicer, more invisible break

this is the boy’s body - sadly if i want all the upper torsos to be interchangeable i’ll need to adjust the shape of the bottom of the flat torso….

and the girl’s torso - the large bust i’m working on is also fitting mostly, but it still needs work.

and here is what has been distracting me for the last few weeks - an amazing piece of art from dollzone, my beloved moment “aphelion”. believe it or not, but he’s named after ratchet and clank’s ship ^^;;;; (don’t ask how i connected the two - but i do love aphelion and wish you could get to know her more in the games….)

i’ve already put in about 35 hours blushing him this far - he’s going to be a marble statue - but i fear i’m going to have to redo it all from the waist down as i don’t like at all how it flows when he’s all strung together…

i have been working on things here and there - but with the snow and cold weather i’ve not been able to do any molding or casting, though i got black resin for xmas from my brother ^^ i’m excited to play with that as i can see xolotl looking awesome in black resin….

i have been working on a sculpting challenge between me and my mom where we have 6 months to create something from start to finish and so that’s been my main focus sculpting wise, but i’ve also been working on a giraffe inspired girl.

first the concept sketch - i’m naming her kirin after the japanese word for giraffee

and the start of sculpting with my beautiful straw core…. and yes, that IS zebra print duct tape…

and after the second week - i will be correcting her legs so they’ll both have the lovely bow curve to them. i want her to be extreme and all legs.

i’ve been working on my mini girls - carving down the fingers to make her hands look more elegant, working on a large bust option (i also plan on doing a flat bust option), and several new animal inspired heads.

first up are the hands (errr - one hand so far) :

and here are the new heads -voodoo - inspired by the godsmack song by the same name. i’m using an african cape cobra as my model and plan on casting her in white and doing golden toned blushing and such. the head is still very much in the beginning stages - i also plan on doing a special head cap for her that will come down behind the neck to look like a cobra hood that is opened (obviously won’t be true to a real snake, but she’s my own creation). she will also have scales down along her throat - so she will be getting her own bust piece.

kitsune - as the name suggests, i’m going for a mischievous fox lady inspired by japanese legends. the large bust originally was going to be just for her, but i may have it as a standard option. the head is actually a heavily modified xolotl cast - can you tell? i will be sculpting fox feet and possible paw-hands for her.

song - this head wasn’t in the plans, but after watching a full day’s worth of cartoons, she came about. there is no real model i’m using for the head, but something akin to a parakeet is what i envision. i think bright colors would work well on the simple sculpt, and i do plan on sculpting my own wing arms with hands for her.

i also started yet another new version of hollow’s lost head - this one i’m very happy with! she also has hands! yay - i can’t wait to see her all together! again…. i will do my best not to loose this head too.

and lastly - i have plans for a new head for the large body. he’s inspired by one of my favorite eighties songs - mr. roboto by styx. i plan on doing a face plate that will come off to reveal a robot skull - and what else to call him but killroy (yes, yes, i know the name really only has one ‘l’ but it’s part of the story i see developing about him) !

however, i expect this anatomy class to really help me out with my sculpting! i’m also still paying off the last of my surgery bill so i haven’t been able to order more silicone to finish molding my mini girl.

but if all goes well this weekend, i’m hoping to do more sanding on her and finish up the jointed hands for basil/ronald. if i can get everything all set to mold that’ll be awesome! (of course it’s now raining here so i don’t know how i’m going to spray them with the primer…. perhaps a very large box? )

i’ve cast a bunch of pieces to clean up and drill so i can string a full body. i’ve also started modding a cast into a boy body (not the most masculine, but definitely in my style) and i’m modding a head into something inspired by volks leiselotte - i had one once and she was incredibly cute, but we didn’t bond fully and i think in part it was her size. i seem to be more drawn to mature mini dolls.
